New Smart and Green Initiatives on Campus

Campus cleanliness is vital for fostering high-quality education and research. Long dedicated to sustainability, the University has recently upgraded its green efforts by deploying automated street sweepers and smart recycling machines. These innovations combine technology with environmental protection, turning green sustainability into a standout feature of our campus management.
NCKU has modernized campus maintenance with mechanized street sweepers, including a unit donated by the NCKU Research & Development Foundation. By automating road cleaning to improve air quality, the University has redirected resources toward critical sustainability tasks. This evolution in governance strengthens our commitment to SDG 11, merging operational efficiency with green campus goals.
NCKU has introduced five smart recycling machines for aluminum cans and plastic bottles, alongside one battery recycling machine, across the Kuang-Fu, Cheng-Kung, Sheng-Li, and Li-Hsing campuses.

By providing convenient recycling channels and incentive mechanisms, the university promotes the "Recycle to Regenerate" lifestyle while enhancing resource management efficiency. As of December 2025, the university has collected approximately 75,012 items, including 60,134 PET bottles—an impact equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration of 415 trees. This initiative demonstrates NCKU’s commitment to SDG 12 and strengthens its core values in resource management.
