Guidelines for Subsidies on Recruiting Outstanding Talents

Application Period: June 16–30, 2025 (ROC Year 114/06/16–114/06/30).

Eligibility: Newly appointed full-time faculty members on the regular staffing roster of NCKU.

Nomination Procedure:

Each college may submit a nomination before the candidate has been approved by the three-tier Faculty Evaluation Committee.

Funding Rules:
-
Purpose: to assist new faculty in establishing research teams, equipment, and environments.

Source of funds: supported by donation income under the University Endowment Fund; disbursement shall follow NCKU’s Guidelines for the Management of Donation Income and Expenditure and related regulations.

Disbursement & term: recipients may receive the subsidy only after appointment as full-time faculty is confirmed and all procedures are completed. The subsidy is disbursed in a single lump sum and must be used within two years.

Guidelines for Incentives on Recruiting Distinguished
Chair Professors

To advance university development, cultivate outstanding talents, encourage top-level research, promote academic and industrial technology development, and enhance the University’s academic capacity, industry–academia collaboration, and international influence, National Cheng Kung University (hereinafter “the University”) establishes the Distinguished Talent Chair Professorship (hereinafter “the Professorship”) and hereby formulates these Guidelines.

Candidates for the Professorship must meet one of the following qualifications, and may receive the award only after selection and formal appointment as full-time faculty of the University:
(1) Possess outstanding academic research achievements.
(2) Demonstrate strong capability and contributions in industry–academia collaboration.
(3) Hold international reputation and influence. -
Award Amount: Each recipient may receive up to NT$2,000,000 per year, disbursed monthly. The number of awardees, award amounts, and award duration may be adjusted according to available funding.

The University shall establish the Review Committee for the Distinguished Talent Chair Professorship (hereinafter “the Review Committee”) to oversee the selection process. The Review Committee shall consist of five to seven members. The Convener shall be the President or a Vice President designated by the President. The remaining members shall be professors or experts and scholars, nominated by the Convener and appointed by the President.
