Low-Carbon Transition
Rooted in Education,
Nurturing a Sustainable Generation
National Cheng Kung University is committed to building a sustainable, low-carbon campus. Since launching its Carbon Neutrality Action Plan in 2018, NCKU has been the first in Taiwan to set sustainability policies and a carbon reduction roadmap. By integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into university planning, NCKU demonstrates sustainability leadership and social responsibility. In line with Taiwan’s 2050 Net-Zero Policy, the University focuses on five key areas, including innovative governance and net-zero emissions, aligning national priorities with research strengths to advance talent cultivation, technological innovation, and industrial transformation—actively leading higher education toward a sustainable future.

Endowment Management
& Sustainable Investment
Following the four pillars of Green Campus, Circular Economy, Energy Conservation, and Low-Carbon Transition, NCKU advances concrete and measurable carbon reduction actions. These include not only smart infrastructure upgrades but also the adoption of renewable energy and the promotion of sustainability education.

Cross-sector Collaboration
As the nation’s first Carbon-Neutral Next-Generation Talent Cultivation Base, NCKU integrates cross-college faculty expertise and research capacity, working with the National Applied Research Laboratories, Industrial Technology Research Institute, Ministry of Environment, Tainan City Government, and industry partners. The initiative promotes seven key carbon-neutral technology courses to drive industrial transformation. NCKU also expands academia–industry collaboration on net-zero through regular events such as the ESG Technology and Management Matchmaking and Exhibition.
