Higher Education Sprout Project
These Principles are hereby formulated to implement the Higher Education Sprout Project, to comprehensively enhance the quality of higher education institutions, to promote the diversified development of higher education, and to assist universities in pursuing the two main pillars of achieving world-class status and developing research centers. The objectives are to improve teaching quality and learning outcomes, support academic research development, strengthen the cultivation of international and innovative industry talents, and encourage institutions to develop diverse capabilities on this foundation.
Four Dimensions of the University
To comprehensively enhance the quality of universities and promote diverse development in higher education, NCKU aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and benchmarks the practices of leading universities worldwide. The University has devised a five-year development strategy focusing on educational innovation, research advancement, industry–academia collaboration, internationalization, and social responsibility.
University Social Responsibility (USR)
Centered on addressing social issues, USR emphasizes how universities interact and collaborate with society to respond to social needs, enhance well-being, and actively contribute to social development. Through interdisciplinary teaching and social practice, NCKU connects with local resources, cultivates students’ sense of responsibility, and channels research and learning outcomes back to society.
