From Classroom to World : How Real Ability Earns International Recognition

Empowering Global Competitiveness NCKU is building a bilingual environment that bridges language and action. We prepare our community to navigate rapid change and global social issues. Together, we cultivate the citizenship needed to contribute meaningfully to the world.
When Classroom Performance Becomes Your International Passport
A Mechanical Engineering student aspiring for overseas graduate studies utilized NCKU’s EMI courses to bridge the language gap. While technical English initially posed a challenge, the University’s support system—featuring TA assistance and tailored learning resources—enabled a smooth transition. The student has now mastered the ability to discuss complex engineering topics fluently in English, showcasing the tangible impact of our EMI program on global talent cultivation.
This year, the University has been selected for the Ministry of Education’s 'EMI TOEFL Waiver Pilot Program.' This milestone allows students to use their performance in EMI courses as direct proof of English proficiency when applying to partner universities abroad. It ensures that every effort students invest in our classrooms now carries internationally recognized value. During a Ministry press conference, representatives from cooperating U.S. universities stated their decision to recognize NCKU’s EMI credits was driven by the visible improvement in course quality and the professional communication skills demonstrated by our students. This program is not just a policy breakthrough; it is a profound international validation of NCKU’s long-term commitment to bilingual education
