Industry–Academia Innovation

AI Adoption Driving Industrial Upgrading and Shaping Southern Taiwan as an AI Innovation Hub

Facing the rapid evolution of global AI technology and the accelerating transformation of industrial structures,  NCKU has taken concrete actions to drive smart transformation. By strategically connecting two major platforms—the Annual Members’ Meeting of the Academia–Industry Consortium for the Southern Taiwan Science Park (STSP) and the university’s anniversary Innovation Demo Day—NCKU has showcased a comprehensive AI development framework. At the Consortium’s Annual Members’ Meeting, various member universities and research teams presented R&D outcomes centered on AI applications, strengthening technological linkages with enterprises in STSP through cross-university technology matchmaking, keynote talks, and industry forums. Simultaneously, Innovation Demo Day focused on cross-domain AI applications through the forum "Integrating Academic Intelligence and Industrial Co-creation: Opening a New Chapter for AI". Leading figures from government, academia, and industry were invited to explore AI application opportunities in key sectors, including semiconductors, robotics, healthcare, and manufacturing, while examining how AI drives industrial intelligence and sustainable transformation. These two events complemented each other by linking R&D showcases, practical exchanges, and strategic dialogue to form an AI-driven, cross-domain industry–academia collaboration platform.

During the 2025 Innovation Demo Day, NCKU showcased over 100 research outcomes across diverse fields, including electronics, smart manufacturing, healthcare, and green energy. The event highlighted over 20 high-potential projects through faculty-led exchanges, demonstrating the breadth and depth of the university’s research energy. In addition, NCKU spearheaded the Greater South Research Industrialization Platform, bringing together research teams from National Tainan Junior College of Nursing, CTBC University of Technology, and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology to present the integrated results of cross-university scientific research in Southern Taiwan.

To advance research into application, NCKU has established a comprehensive startup support system spanning from idea initiation to market scaling.  Through initiatives such as the NCKU Innovation Dreams Come True Project, the Phoenix Entrepreneurship Platforms, and the NCKU Angel Investment Club, the university provides essential resource matchmaking, guidance, and funding. A recent highlight included the "Golden Phoenix Angel Fund Pitch," where six selected teams connected with market resources to accelerate their journey toward commercial realization.
