Cultivating the Next Generation of Innovators

Accelerating Innovation, Cultivating Talent

BIO Asia-Taiwan Exhibition 2025

NCKU, in the role of leader of the Greater South Research Industrialization Platform, joined forces with nearly 30 teams—ranging from university spin-offs to members of the NCKU Medical Alliance and industry partners—at the 2025 BIO Asia-Taiwan Exhibition. The NCKU Medical Alliance promoted clinical trial collaborations and, at an event concerning cell therapy clinical trials, successfully facilitated a multimillion-NTD partnership with NCKU Hospital. This collaboration marks the beginning of a broader research journey and paves the way for larger-scale projects as clinical results are unveiled.

Established in 2023, the NCKU Precision Health Accelerator has nurtured multiple startups that were showcased at the 2025 major biotech exhibition. To expand market validation and accelerate commercialization, NCKU is partnering with industry stakeholders to establish a precision health and sports technology ecosystem in southern Taiwan. The program enables pilot sales through selected pharmacy outlets to verify product–market fit; once validated, industry partners help produce targeted marketing assets and open consumer channels. Moreover, the accelerator leverages NCKU's global networks and cross-border business resources to support startups desirous of entering international markets.

Talent Development: Net-Zero Green Workforce and an AI Rising Star Initiative

NCKU is championing the next generation of talent development through involvement in  the Ministry of Environment’s Net-Zero Green Talent Program and the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ AI Rising Star Initiative. In June 2025, through the Southern Taiwan Training Center of the Net-Zero Green Talent Alliance, NCKU collaboratively launched courses with eight universities across the region. Courses are delivered by experts from government, academia, and industry, and course content covers pertinent and timely topics such as climate change, greenhouse gases, carbon inventories, carbon footprint, voluntary reduction, and verification systems. Nearly half of the participants are affiliated with industry, and the program aims to train 700 green-collar talents.

In parallel, NCKU has been designated as a key southern training institution for the AI Rising Star Initiative. In this role, the institution addresses the urgent demand for industry-ready AI talent. Taught by NCKU computer science faculty, courses focus on innovative health care, smart manufacturing, and smart services. The program is designed for recent graduates, including young professionals in diverse fields, who are within three years post-graduation. The program encompasses information technology, engineering, business, and the humanities, combining hands-on technical training with real-world applications. Participants receive guidance from teaching assistants with a computer science background who provide them with continuous opportunities to strengthen their technical skills and problem-solving capabilities in a real industry setting.
